Search Warrant Summer Summit Goes to Kingston!
All aboard for Kingston! The Search Warrant team may work from home a lot but getting together is important too. So they booked the first annual Search Warrant Summer Summit and headed for Kingston, Ontario.
The team hailed from all over for two days of great food, drink, company and culture too. After the challenges of the pandemic, the summit was a celebration of commitment and hard work, as well as a chance to reconnect. A big thanks goes out to our friends (and client!) at Tourism Kingston, who helped organize and plan the summit.
Arrival – Kingston
After a fun trip to town the gang checked in the Delta Kingston Waterfront and walked over to Chez Piggy, a local Kingston crown jewel inspired by world flavours. From the Iron Bull to the fresh oysters, Chez Piggy did not disappoint. It set the tone for the remainder of our summit – food, fun and laughs!
Day 1 – 1000 Islands and Tapas!
Bright eyed and bushy tailed on Thursday morning, the team headed to Pan Chancho Bakery (Chez Piggy’s older sister) for good coffee and better eggs benny. With some fuel, the gang explored Princess Street, discovering the best nooks and crannies of Downtown Kingston.
By noon they’d walked to the pier and were ready to board the 1000 Islands Cruise. This three hour excursion ‘steamed’ from downtown Kingston to the picturesque channels of the 1000 Islands. The rain held off, smiles were wide, and the hard lemonade was on point!
Back on shore, Kingston Food Tours hosted the team for a tapas food tour. We sampled food and drink from 5 local Kingston businesses – Dianne’s Fish Shack & Smokehouse, Tango Nuevo, Kingston Brewing Company, Frontenac Club, and Mio Gelato. These restaurants each offered their own unique flavours and dishes, leaving the team full bellies and a wealth of knowledge about the history of Kingston.
Day 2 – A Visit to the Pen
To start off day two of the Search Warrant Summer Summit, the team took a short ride to the Kingston Penitentiary before strolling home along the stunning lakeshore of Kingston.
Kingston Pen closed in 2013 and dates back to the 1830s. It contains nearly 200 years of troubling history, daring escapes, and occasional moments of light. Kingston Pen Tours provided a somber and riveting historical tour.
Afterwards, everyone strolled back toward downtown along the lakeshore. There were a few historic and photo stops along the way including the Gord Downie Memorial Pier and a quick lunch on the patio at Juniper Cafe, right on the shores of Lake Ontario.
The first annual Search Warrant Summer Summit was over too soon! Thank you to Tourism Kingston and the Kingston community for welcoming the Search Warrant team. If your business is looking for a totally walkable, historic, and hip place to get together – give Kingston a try.
